At WAIMLAp, you are not just part of the audience. You are part of the conversation.
WAIMLAp 2026 proposes a different way of experiencing a scientific workshop. We believe that a workshop should be more than a sequence of presentations delivered to a passive audience. It should be a space where ideas circulate, are questioned, improved, and transformed through interaction among researchers, students, professionals, and the broader AI community.
That is why, this year, every WAIMLAp participant is invited to become an active contributor to the workshop.
In addition to authors presenting accepted full papers in the oral sessions, participation in WAIMLAp 2026 will take place through the submission of an Extended Abstract accompanied by a Scientific Poster.
Your contribution may present completed research, preliminary results, a thesis project, work in progress, an applied AI project, or a well-founded research idea worth discussing with the community.
You do not need to arrive with all the answers.
You should arrive with something worth discussing.

From Audience to Active Community: Everyone participates!
Traditional conferences often separate participants into two groups: those who present and those who listen.
WAIMLAp 2026 wants to challenge that model.
We want posters to become meeting points. We want questions to become discussions. We want preliminary results to find new perspectives, thesis projects to receive meaningful feedback, and conversations between researchers from different disciplines to become new collaborations.
Every accepted participant will therefore bring something to share with the community, either through an oral presentation or through a scientific poster.
Call for Posters
The WAIMLAp 2026 Call for Posters welcomes contributions from undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, faculty members, professionals, research groups, and multidisciplinary teams working in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and their applications.
Poster contributions may present:
- Original research and experimental results
- Preliminary research findings
- Undergraduate, Master’s, or Doctoral thesis projects
- Work in progress
- Applied AI projects and case studies
- Methodological proposals
- Multidisciplinary research
- Technology-transfer experiences
- Well-founded research ideas with sufficient development to foster scientific discussion

WAIMLAp 2026 welcomes contributions related to methods, models, challenges, and applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, including, but not limited to:
- Novel architectures and techniques in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning
- AI in Remote Sensing
- Generative AI
- AI in Smart Cities and Smart Industry
- AI in Robotics
- AI in Social Sciences
- Interpretability and Explainability of AI Models
- Applications in Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Complex Data Analysis
- Spatio-temporal Modeling
- Ethical, Regulatory, Security, Computational, and Generalization Challenges in AI
How to Participate
Each poster submission must contain two documents:
01 · Extended Abstract: A concise, structured description of the work, with a maximum length of 2 pages.
02 · Scientific Poster: An A0 portrait poster designed to communicate the work visually and encourage discussion during the workshop.
Both documents must be prepared using the official WAIMLAp 2026 templates and submitted together in a single ZIP file.

Extended Abstract Guidelines
The Extended Abstract should provide a concise but scientifically meaningful description of the contribution.
- Maximum length: 2 pages, including figures, tables, and references.
- Language: English
- Format: A4 · Single column · Official WAIMLAp template

Scientific Poster Guidelines
The poster should not simply reproduce the Extended Abstract. It should provide a visual synthesis of the work and serve as a starting point for scientific conversation during the poster sessions.

A poster does not need to represent the final stage of a research project. However, every submission should demonstrate a clear research purpose, methodological coherence, and sufficient scientific development to support meaningful discussion.

Acceptance and Attendance Confirmation
- Authors of accepted poster contributions will receive an acceptance notification together with instructions to confirm their participation in WAIMLAp 2026.
- At least one author of each accepted contribution must: confirm attendance, complete the event registration, and present the poster in person during the assigned poster session.
- Because venue capacity is limited, acceptance of a poster does by itself constitute a pre-registration.
- Participation will be confirmed after the corresponding author completes the attendance-confirmation process indicated in the acceptance notification.
- Participation in WAIMLAp 2026 is free of charge. There are no registration fees for accepted participants.
- However, free participation comes with a commitment: if you confirm your attendance, we ask you to be present, share your work, engage with other participants, and actively contribute to the workshop.
Your work does not have to be finished to start a conversation.
- A question asked in front of a poster can improve a methodology.
- A discussion can reveal a new research direction.
- A preliminary result can receive the feedback it needs to become a stronger contribution.
- And a conversation between people who had never worked together before can become a new collaboration.
WAIMLAp is not only a place to present research.
It is a place to make research happen.
